Role Overview
The company is seeking a multi-faceted, experienced and driven Senior Civil Structural Engineer to join our growing team. The Senior Civil Structural Engineer will work with other engineers and internal company personnel to develop design solutions, manage project activities, and contribute to the overall growth of the business. The candidate must be fully qualified and have extensive experience working on major complex structural designs. The below details the main responsibilities of the role but are not limited to these.
Key Responsibilities
- Adhere to all HSEQ requirements within the Civil/Structural Engineering discipline in accordance with Industry, regulatory and the company best practices and management systems
- Provide technical support to Engineering studies such as design reviews, HAZOP, SIL, and Constructability.
- Always utilize a safe approach in design and working practices.
- Report to the Technical Manager, the candidate will assume sole responsibility for assigned Civil/Structural engineering work scopes
- Assist in the coordination of all activities related to Civil/Structural engineering design
- Work with and support management team
- Assure the technical quality of work performed meet organizational standards, codes and general knowledge of engineering principles and projects
- Lead the Civil/Structural Engineering department, providing guidance and leadership to direct reports as well as managing their performance.
- Participate in people development through mentoring, development of training material, conducting training seminars, and performance appraisal input and counseling
- Provide direction and guidance on all Civil/Structural engineering technical queries raised by either internal or external parties
- Review of vendor documentation requirements for use and integration within projects.
- Contribute to and participate in formal and informal design reviews and the development of engineering changes
- Review drawings, calculations, specifications, and other engineering documentation for compliance with contract requirements, good engineering practices, codes, and standards
- Perform CSA [Civil Structural Architectural] design development in several project phases e.g. conceptual design, front-end design, detail engineering and design for integration of new facilities in upgrade type multi-disciplinary projects
- Perform and check calculations, specify equipment, and solve problems of complex to difficult engineering complexity
- Prepare engineering deliverables and ensure that they conform to all applicable engineering codes and standards as well as the Client’s policies and procedures
- Analyze and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying complexity in accordance with organization and/or project objectives and guidelines
- Represent as the civil/structural engineer on projects; planning, managing and coordinating the civil/structural engineering activities on large and/or technically complex portion of projects and/or serve in an individual contributor role as the Civil/Structural expert completing broadly defined and/or technically complex engineering assignments
- Provide sound technical advice and solutions to a diversity of technical problems within the discipline
- Co-ordinate with other disciplines during all stages of design development, construction, pre- commissioning, and start-up to ensure design integrity and consistency
- Conceptualize Civil/Structural designs and produce solutions that are safe, cost effective, fit for purpose and add value to both the company and the client(s);
- Develop and review estimates and schedules, progress reports, including manpower forecasts
- Possess a pro-active attitude and basic knowledge of other disciplines such as Piping, Mechanical and E&I.

- Lead Client discussion with focus on building strong Client relations to ensure expectations are met.
- Management of workload and budgets across designated work scopes to ensure successful delivery.
- Collect and analyze information in order to report timely required information to different users and management. Provide regular status reporting to applicable management and departments in order to enable them to take required actions
- Participate in Business Development activities as we as work with Sales team to understand customer requirements and to provide sales support
- Create and maintain documentation to allow effective knowledge transfer through the company.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on problem management and resolutions
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management

Desired Skills and Experience
- Minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Civil/ Structural Engineering from an Accredited University; MSc Civil Engineering will be an asset
- 10-15 years’ related experience or exposure to civil structural design principles
- Demonstrated ability to think and work independently with minimal direction or engineering leadership
- Must be well organized with the ability to multi-task and have good communication (written and oral) skills.
- Must have comprehensive knowledge of relevant codes and legislation
- Must be client-focused and advancement oriented:
- Must be proficient or familiar with various software, such as CAD software: AutoCAD, Revit etc.
- Business software: Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)
- Must Possess ability to read and understand technical drawings and documentation including construction drawings, industry and site codes and standards, and manufacturing operating manuals
