Responsible for the
accurate and timely preparation and submission of the company’s tenders
accompanied by supporting documentation.

Supervises Estimating
staff and is responsible for their development.

Ensures preparation of
the Bill of Quantity and its accuracy, completeness, compliance with
departmental procedures and competitiveness in order to submit a
completed tender.

Requests pertinent
information from the relevant departments with timelines attached:
-
Accounts Department: Vat
certificate, latest financial audited report, bond, insurances etc.

Engineering and Projects
Departments: as necessary request for assistance with the method
statement.
-
HR Department: Company
profile, organizational chart, history of previous similar jobs, etc.
-
Identify all
discrepancies and submit in writing to the Consultant for clarification
and approval.
-
Submit list of items for
pricing to the Purchasing department.
-
Ensures that the accuracy
of the tabulation in the tender document.
-
Tenders of an identified
value must be reviewed by the Tender Approval Review Committee before
submittal.
-
Ensures that all
documents are retuned with tender submitted to client e.g. drawings and
technical specifications.
-
Ensures that Bill of
Quantity accompanied by all supporting documentation is delivered on
time to the prospective client.
-
Once a tender is won,
ensures that necessary checks and balances are done to ensure that the
Company’s bid is still valid and if allowed by Client makes necessary
changes and submits revised tender.

Ensures that the Managing
Director signs all letters of intent, contracts and approves all
tenders.
-
Ensures that all tender
drawings and technical specifications and scope of works that was
submitted at tender stage are returned.

Ensures that the request
is made for three sets of hard copy electrical drawings stamped “for
construction,” and one electronic copy, two copies each of drawings of
the architect, plumbing, air-conditioning and any other relevant
information that is required.

Ensures that notification
of project team and other relevant information is also submitted to the
client/contractor.

On approval of revised
tender, holds meeting/s with the client or the consultant on the project
in order to discuss possible changes to the design that would affect the
tender that was submitted as well as the cost and obtains their
agreement to proceed and forwards approved drawing to the Engineering
department for review and approval.

Ensures that the
Preliminary Material List for the Purchasing department is prepared for
each job.

Responsible for holding
the company’s Kick of Meeting with the relevant heads of departments
(Projects, Engineering, Accounts, HR and Purchasing) to disseminate
pertinent information.

Responsible for holding
the Projects Implementation Meeting with the Engineering and Projects
Departments, including the assigned project team at which all aspects of
the jobs will be discussed and agreed upon for example, resource
requirement, site facilities, methodology, the approach to completing
the job, etc).

Ensures that relevant BOQ
information is accessible to Purchasing, Warehouse and Projects
Departments.

Ensures that an updated
material list is used for all approved variations.
-
Ensures that all client
approved variations submitted via revised drawings and/or requests made
through Site Project Technicians are costed and forwarded to the
Accounts Department for billing purpose on a timely basis.

Conducts Performance
Appraisals for all subordinate staff.
-
Duties are to be
performed with some degree of initiative and independence.

Responsible for managing
the efficient running of the department and subordinate staff.

Performs related duties
as assigned.

Minimum of five (5) years
estimating experience.
-
Minimum of three (3)
years supervisory experience.
-
Experience in the
Construction industry is essential.
-
Experience with software
estimating packages is an asset.
-
Knowledge of electrical
systems including standard and new materials, installation methods,
equipment and design concepts.
-
Knowledge of engineering
as applied to the design and installation of electrical systems and
equipment in major buildings.
-
Knowledge of standard
electrical construction materials and design concepts for major
structures.
-
Knowledge of TTBS
Electrical Code, construction codes, and related laws and ordinances.
-
Knowledge of methods and
materials of building construction and electrical portions of mechanical
equipment.
